Cardiology

Introduction of the medical department

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine is a department that treats heart and blood vessel diseases. Representative diseases include high blood pressure, heart failure, heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, and arrhythmia. Nine specialized medical staff, residents, and nurses all use cutting-edge equipment. We are doing our best to maximize the accuracy of diagnosis and increase patient satisfaction.

Major Diseases

High blood pressure, heart failure, heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, hyperlipidemia, myocardial, pericardial, aortic disease, arrhythmia including atrial fibrillation, etc.

Major Procedures

Major Investigations

  • Electrocardiogram test
    - This is a test that records electrical signals generated from the heart by attaching electrodes to the chest and extremities, and is essential for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, including acute myocardial infarction, and various arrhythmias.
    • Time required: Approximately 2 minutes
    • Location: Cardiovascular Center, 2nd floor, New Building
  • Echocardiography
    - This is a test that sends ultrasound by attaching a probe that generates ultrasound to the chest area and then imaging the returning ultrasound in real time to observe the function of the heart muscle and valves and other anatomical abnormalities.
    • Time required: Approximately 10 to 15 minutes
    • Location: Cardiovascular Center, 2nd floor, New Building
  • Arteriosclerosis test
    - A test to measure arterial stiffness by measuring the ratio of blood pressure and blood flow rate in the brachial and tibial arteries.
    • Time required: Approximately 15 minutes
    • Location: Cardiovascular Center, 2nd floor, New Building
  • Cardiac computed tomography (CT)
    - A test that projects radiation onto the human body from various angles, reconstructs it on a computer, and processes the internal cross-section of the human body into an image.
    • Time required: Approximately 10 to 15 minutes
    • Location: West side of the first floor of the main building
  • Coronary angiography
    - This is a test that observes the degree of stenosis of the coronary artery in real time while injecting a contrast medium into the coronary artery using radiation. Coronary artery intervention can be performed immediately after the test.
    • Time required: Approximately 30 minutes. Coronary artery intervention takes from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the severity of the disease.
    • Location: Opposite the Cardiovascular Center on the 2nd floor of the new building
  • Myocardial perfusion scan
    - A special test that diagnoses the blood circulation and degree of ischemia in the heart muscle by injecting a drug containing a radioactive isotope into the body to image the perfusion of the heart.
    • Time required: Approximately 1 hour each in the morning and afternoon
    • Location: New building L floor
