Pulmonology

Introduction of the medical department

The Department of Respiratory Medicine specializes in various diseases that can occur in the breathings such as bronchi, lungs, and their organs. It also treats occupational diseases such as silicosis that occurred in miners in the past and mesothelioma due to exposure to asbestos, as well as diseases such as lung cancer and sleep medicine. We are dealing with

Major Diseases

Cold, flu (influenza), lung cancer, pneumonia, tuberculosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, etc.

Major Procedures

  • Bronchoscopy
The inside of the bronchial tubes can be checked with an endoscope, and diagnostic or therapeutic procedures can be performed if necessary. A blood test and electrocardiogram are used to check in advance whether there are any other abnormalities in the body, and the test is performed after fasting for at least 4 hours.
Time required: approximately 20 to 30 minutes
Location: Bronchoscopy room on the 1st floor of the main building
    Pulmonary function test
Lung volume and airway resistance are checked, and if necessary, bronchial asthma provocation test, exercise stress pulmonary function test, and pulmonary function test after bronchodilator administration are performed.
Time required: approximately 20 to 30 minutes
Location: Pulmonary function testing room on the first floor of the main building
  • Pulmonary function test
Lung volume and airway resistance are checked, and if necessary, bronchial asthma provocation test, exercise stress pulmonary function test, and pulmonary function test after bronchodilator administration are performed.
Time required: approximately 20 to 30 minutes
Location: Pulmonary function testing room on the first floor of the main building
  • Chest X-ray and CT
A chest X-ray is a basic test for detecting lung lesions and provides important information. It is performed by taking an Computed tomography (CT) can identify the characteristics of lesions identified on chest X-ray and provide detailed information about blood vessels and mediastinal structures. It also has the advantage of identifying small lesions that may be missed on chest X-rays and lesions hidden behind the heart.
Time required: Approximately 1 to 2 minutes
Location: West side of the first floor of the main building
  • Airway hyper-responsiveness test
This is a test performed on patients suspected of having asthma to confirm the diagnosis. It is a test to determine the extent to which lung capacity is reduced by inhaling a drug that has the property of constricting the bronchi.

Etc

We operate a pulmonary function laboratory, bronchoscopy laboratory, and tuberculosis control laboratory.
