1. Rights of Patient

A. Right to receive medical treatment

patient have a right to receive proper medical care service for protection and improvement of own health and shall not be violated for the right on health for the reason of gender, age, religion, status, and economic conditions and a medical professional shall not refuse medical service without proper reason.

B. Right to know and self-determination

A patient have a right to take sufficient explanation on and ask in detail expected results such as disease condition, therapy, subject of medical study, organ transplantation, and side effects and to determine consent on these.

C. Right to be protected for secrete

A patient shall not be infringed for secrets on the body and health related to the medical service and privacy and a medical professional and a medical institute can not leak and announce the secret other than cases that received patient consent or prescribed in the laws such as criminal investigation.

D. A right to apply consultation and arbitration

A patient can submit application for consultation and arbitration to Korea Medical Dispute Mediation Committee when a dispute related to medical service occured

2. Duties of Patient

A. Duty to trust and respect medical professionals

A patient should inform his/her own health related information to medical professionals and trust and respect his/her therapeutic plan.

B. Duty not to receive medical treatment with any incorrect methods

A patient should disclose his/her own identity and not receive medical service with false or unfair method as like receiving medical treatment under name of other person.
