Rheumatology

Introduction of the medical department

We provide specialized treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis, which cause inflammation in the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, due to abnormalities in the immune system.

Major Diseases

Rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, Sjogren's syndrome, osteoarthritis

Major procedures

Intra-articular injection, Trigger point injection

Major Investigations

  • Gastroscopy (endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract)
This is a test method in which an endoscope is inserted through the mouth into the esophagus to observe the stomach and duodenum, and if any abnormalities are found, they are diagnosed through a biopsy.
You must fast for at least 8 hours before the test.
Time required: Approximately 5 minutes; it may take slightly longer if a secondary test such as a biopsy is performed.
Location: Endoscopy room on the 2nd floor of the main building
  • Colonoscopy (lower gastrointestinal endoscopy)
This is a test method that inserts a special camera called an endoscope into the anus to observe the inside of the large intestine and the terminal part of the small intestine adjacent to the large intestine.
It is very important to empty the intestines (take enema) prior to the test.
Time required: Approximately 20 to 30 minutes
Location: Endoscopy room on the 2nd floor of the main building
  • Pancreatobiliary endoscopy
Kidney transplantation is a surgical procedure in which a healthy, donated kidney is connected to the patient's arteries, veins, and bladder to replace a diseased kidney that is malfunctioning and life-threatening.
After surgery, if there are no special problems such as surgery-related complications or acute immune rejection, the patient will be discharged within 2 weeks and receive regular follow-up tests at an outpatient clinic.
If rejection of the transplanted kidney is suspected, such as when the renal function of the transplanted kidney suddenly deteriorates, a kidney biopsy should be performed and appropriate treatment should be received according to the biopsy results.
We operate an artificial kidney room (west side of the 8th floor of the main building).
  • Ultrasound Endoscopy
This is a test method to diagnose gallstones and differentiate between jaundice and pancreatic disease.
  • Ultrasound Endoscopy
An ultrasonic vibrator is attached to the end of the endoscope to send ultrasound into the body cavity, such as the stomach, to observe the surrounding organs (especially the pancreas). It is the most accurate diagnostic method for the degree of tissue invasion in early gastric cancer and pancreatobiliary disease, and is the most accurate diagnostic method for gastrointestinal subepithelial masses. It also helps in differential diagnosis.
  • Capsule Endoscopy
This is a field where rapid technological progress has been made recently with a test method that allows visual evaluation of the intestinal mucosa easily without the pain of an endoscopic procedure.
